Baconton Power Facility Achieves ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Certifications
ATLANTA (March 4, 2009) – PIC announced today that the Baconton power facility, located in Baconton, Ga., has successfully completed external certification of its Environmental, Health and Safety Management System to international standards ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. The Baconton team, led by plant manager Brian Alligood and supported by PIC’s corporate management team, completed the certification process on Jan. 6, 2009 with a passing score on the Stage 2 Audit.
The Baconton facility houses two separate power plant operations and has been commercial since June 1999. PIC, a global power generation service provider, supported Baconton’s team by providing the facility with expert personnel to facilitate a seamless certification process.
Environmental, health and safety management system standards were developed by government and industry to assist companies in assuring structured and disciplined control of all aspects of their environmental, occupational, health and safety impacts. An externally certified EH&S management system will help the Baconton power facility reduce risk and liability, control costs, increase stakeholder confidence and expand global marketing. Although the system is a voluntary management tool in the U.S., it is a requirement for doing business in a number of countries.
