ATLANTA (May 26, 2011) – Congratulations to Ghent Generating Facility and Mill Creek Station for receiving the 2010-2011 Governor’s Health and Safety Award. Recognized for the second year in a row, these teams are serious about safety. Since 2005, these PIC maintenance and auxiliary outage crews have accomplished 325,962 (Ghent) and 317,960 (Mill Creek) safe work hours without a lost time injury or illness.

This year the award was presented by Kentucky Labor Cabinet General Counsel Dave Suetholz on behalf of Kentucky Secretary of Labor Mark Brown. Each year the Governor’s Health and Safety Award is given to organizations that have accomplished a certain number of labor hours without a lost time incident. The award promotes safety and health awareness in the workplace as well as encourages safety and health program development.
