ATLANTA (May 5, 2010) – PIC is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the construction portion of all Metso Paper supplied equipment at the Nacogdoches Generating Facility in Sacul, Tex.  Commercial operation is expected to begin in 2012.

Once completed, Nacogdoches will be the largest biomass power plant in the United States.  This facility will generate approximately 100 megawatts of clean, renewable energy using wood waste as the primary fuel.  Owned and operated by Southern Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, Nacogdoches will support the growing electricity needs of Austin, Tex. through a 20 year power purchase agreement with Austin Energy.

“We are excited to be brought on board for this installation,” said Tom Lipinski, Vice President of PIC’s Installation Services.  “Being part of such a large green energy project is a huge part of our business plan.  We look forward to bringing the PIC expertise to Texas and working safely, efficiently and on-budget.”  PIC’s scope of work for this project includes the installation of structural steel, a bubbling fluidized bed boiler and the air quality emissions control systems.
