PIC is Awarded 400 MW O&M Contract

ATLANTA (July 14, 2010) - PIC was recently awarded a 10 year operations and maintenance contract by Termopalermo S.A.S ESP for the 400 megawatt Termopalermo Power Plant.  Commercial operation of Phase I is scheduled to begin October 2011.

Currently being constructed near Barranquilla, Colombia, the Termopalermo Power Plant will provide approximately 400 megawatts of power using one W501 AA and three W501 D5 units.  PIC’s scope of work on this project includes start-up and commissioning of the facility as well as full operations and site performed maintenance.

“We are pleased to welcome Termopalermo to the PIC O&M family.  Like most power asset owners, Termopalermo was looking for a way to maintain a healthy facility while keeping costs low.  PIC’s flexible service offerings and site performed maintenance model met this need, eliminating middleman agreements,” said Jim Miller, Vice President of PIC O&M.

Under this site performed maintenance contract with Termopalermo, PIC’s on-site operators will perform all minor and major maintenance at the plant.  A replacement for expensive long term service agreements, site performed maintenance will leverage the site personnel’s equpiment experience to save Termopalermo money while maintaining OEM level quality.  Other benefits of this model include more owner control, enhanced QA/QC and lower overall risk.
